Custard Apple Squares

2 cups Flour
 ½ cup Oatmeal
 1 cup Brown Sugar
 ¾ cup Soft Butter
 ¼ tsp Nutmeg
 1 cup Water
 1 cup Sugar
 3 tsp Cornstarch
 1 tsp Vanilla
 45 Thinly sliced apples (Connie likes Evercrisp)
 
Directions
  • Mix first 5 ingredients. Set aside 1 C of mixture & press the remainder into a 9 x 13 baking dish.
  • Combine next 3 ingredients and heat in saucepan on medium until thickened.
  • Add the last 2 ingredients to the heated mixture.
  • Pour into baking dish and sprinkle the remaining crumble mixture on top.
  • Bake 50-60 minutes at 350 degrees
